Authorities imposed an indefinite curfew in parts of Nagpur, Maharashtra, after violent clashes erupted over demands by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) to remove the tomb of 17th-century Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The violence on Monday night resulted in damage to several vehicles and injuries to multiple people, including at least 15 police officers, one of whom is in serious condition.

The unrest began when VHP members burned an effigy of Aurangzeb and his tomb while chanting slogans for its removal. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the violence and instructed the police to take strict measures to restore order.
